“If you guys are bored, they’re showing Morbius on the TV tonight,” Koma points to the screen behind him after a few songs... As he stopped explaining and began playing the opening chords [to “astrology and context”], the moment became perfectly synced with the start of the hospital scene in "Morbius". It certainly made it much more impactful despite the irony, and I think emphasizes that life is complicated. It's funny, it's tragic, it's beautiful, it's terrible- all at the same time.

“One of those new songs McMahon mentioned is called “Happy”, is about just that- wanting to be happy. Even further, it speaks of the tension between seeking joy and where it clashes with growing up. There’s countless self-help books on the market about how to be happy, but I think Something Corporate is trying to remind us that it can be as simple as tending to a bird feeder and inviting new friends over for dinner. ”

“More than that, the soundscape they’ve created with their music truly does translate beautifully live. The keys sound like twinkling stars, the guitar and bass like I’m surfing on the ocean. ‘I stare at the sun, cause I know you’re staring at it somewhere’ could be about anyone- your long distance partner, best friend, or someone you’re grieving the loss of. ‘You might be in desert land or down in the sea’, or New York, Austin or even little Ypsi, Michigan.”

“INVICTA may be dark, but it is not a sad record - merging themes of strength, courage and determination with angsty electronica, Rose has proven to everyone that she's come to not only fight, but conquer.”

“Maybe the line has finally blurred between the world of the band and the world of Albarn. Or maybe, somewhere in the middle of what honestly sounds like a mess on paper, ‘Gorillaz’ have just changed.”

“Even though we grew up at a time where there was the ability to go on the internet and information was really accessible, there was still a delay. And living in the suburbs growing up, you are never the epicenter of culture. You're never at the epicenter of the newest bands, the newest art scene, all that stuff. You have to wait until it all travels to you.”
